There are three family-run restaurants in Orentano, and one is cited in the famous restaurant guide ‘Gambero Rosso’ for its delicious Fiorentina steaks.  A food store, a butchery, a bank and a medical center are also available in the village. It’s archeological museum displays the long and rich history of human settlement in the Bientina Lake area from the Palaeolithic era to the Medieval period.

A short 5 kilometres away, the neighbouring town of Altopascio has a large supermarket as well as a train station should you wish to travel to Florence or some of the surrounding medieval villages by train.
